Ability and Service

In 2002, the nuclear reactor and reactor coolant system of QinShan NPP (Nuclear Power Plant) Phase II, which was designed by NPIC, were put into application. It is the first self-designed, self-constructed, self-debugged, self-managed and self-operated commercial NPP in China; it is NPIC’s beginning of commercial NPPs’ self-design. LingAo NPP phase II was the first self-designed mega-kw-level large scale commercial Pressurized Water Reactor program in China, the third unit of which was merged into the national electricity grid successfully in 2010, indicated that China had already possessed the research and design ability of mega-kw-level NPPs.

Presently, NPIC is responsible to 20 units of nuclear electricity engineering design mission (as indicated in the following table); the design range is extended from the reactor, reactor coolant system, correlative instrument and control system, to the nuclear steam supply system (NSSS).
