Science and Technology on Reactor Fuel and Materials Laboratory was founded in 1992 in Chengdu, China. We adhere to the operating principle of “Opening, communication, collaboration and competition”, leading the development of China’s nuclear fuel and materials. It is the only one professional laboratory in China systematically equipped for the research in preparation, the fundamental properties, the service performance evaluation of nuclear fuel and materials. The laboratory focused on the exploratory, creative research on fundamental and application questions in nuclear fuel and materials field, to solve the key technical problems in NPP.
Science and Technology on Reactor System Design Technology Laboratory is the only laboratory that specially does the design technology research of nuclear reactor system in China. The laboratory plays an important role in the technology self-innovation and the talents training and attraction, offers an important platform for the academic communication and cooperation in China. The laboratory is established in the exploring and innovative research in the application basement domain and the key technology study in the nuclear power engineering domain. During the Eleventh Five-Year Development Program, the laboratory was responsible to more than 100 research programs, acquired national-level reward 1 time, provincial-and-ministerial-level rewards 19 times, gained 11 accredited patents, and more than 800 pieces of academic paper and reports were published.
National Energy R&D Center on Advanced Nuclear Fuel was founded by the National Energy Administration in July, 2010，supported by Nuclear Power Institute of China(NPIC).It’s not only the main body of technological break-through and independent innovation in advanced fuel technology, but also the consultation center of the national nuclear fuel development strategy. The main research fields include: system planning for the R&D of the nuclear fuel elements; R&D of the advanced nuclear fuel elements; research,establishment, evaluation and consultation of the standards and codes on the nuclear fuel elements; International communication and cooperation of the nuclear fuel elements technology; training and cultivating of the professional people, creative talents and technology leaders in the fields of nuclear energy; technical support for the national nuclear development and strategy.
The National Energy Pressurized Water Reactor Technology Research Center (NERC), authorized by the National Energy Administration, was established in July, 2010. NERC, which is affiliated with Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC), is an integral part of national energy technologically innovative system. Following the development of national nuclear technology, it has gradually turned into an advanced nuclear energy innovation researching base and versatile talents cultivating base.
The CNNC Key Laboratory on Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics Technology (RETH), which is one of the most important labs for reactor thermal hydraulics research in China, solves key technical problems in nuclear power technology and provides a platform for cultivating high-level professionals, opening to the outside, proceeding academic communication and promoting international cooperation based on exploratory and innovative fundamental research and applied basic research in the field of reactor thermal hydraulics. During the Eleventh Five-Year Development Program, the key laboratory undertook more than 130 research projects, and gained 11 science & technology awards and 13 accepted patents, including 5 accepted invention patents. Moreover, 439 conference and journal papers and 10 monographs were published.
